Ziyad Raoof at the European Economic Congress in Katowice

Three-days European Economic Congress took place in Katowice (Poland) from 2 to 4 September 2020. It was the first big, international conference organized in Poland after coronavirus pause.

12th edition of the congress was attended by many important guests, among other Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki, two former heads of the European Parliament- Hans Poettering and Jerzy Buzek- ministers, members of Polish parliament, representatives of regional authorities, entrepreneurs and journalists.

Among invited guest was also Ziyad Raoof KRG representative in Poland. He attended debates and panel discussions devoted to economy, politics, energy sector and also held several backstage talks with MPs, representatives of local government authorities and non-governmental organizations.

KRG Representative in Poland spoke among others with member of European Parliament Jerzy Buzek- former prime minister of Poland and former chairman of European Parliament. Conversation concerned situation in the Middle East and the role of Kurds in stabilizing that region. Jerzy Buzek stressed that Europe appreciates and supports efforts of Kurds in this matter.

Ziyad Raoof also met CEO of Polish branch of “World Wide Fund for Nature” – Mirosław Proppe and spoke with him about cooperation between WWF and KRG in favor of protecting Kurdish environment.
