Ziyad Raoof at the conference „Responsibility and Development”

KRG Representative in Poland Ziyad Raoof was invited and took part in the international conference “Responsibility and Development: New Agenda for Europe and the World” which took place on April 25 in Warsaw. “Amicus Europe” Foundation and FEPS- Foundation for European Progressive Studies (which is think-tank of European left) were main organizers of the event which was attended by many influential guests, including former prime ministers of Austria, Belgium. Slovenia and Poland.

Conference started with presentation of the report “Prioritizing People and Planet. New Agenda for Europe and the World” prepared under the chairmanship of Pascal Lamy (who was also present at the conference): former European Commissioner for Trade and general director of World Trade Organization. Later there were two discussion panels about priorities of development in 21st century: ecology, women rights, democracy, social security.

Ziyad Raoof also took the voice during the conference. He asked the question about the agenda of European left for Middle East Region. KRG Representative pointed out that problems of Middle East like terrorism or migrations have become problems of Europe and the whole world too. Panelists replied that reasons of those problems are among others deficit of the democracy and oil dependence of economy.

After plenary sessions Ziyad Raoof had a chance to speak among others with Aleksander Kwaśniewski former president of Poland, dr Ireneusz Bil chairman of Amicus Europae Foundation and Aldo Amati ambassador of Italy in Poland.
