President of Kurdistan Region met with President of the United States

Nechirvan Barzani and Donald Trump met on January 22 in Davos during annual World Economic Forum. They discussed energy cooperation, Erbil-Baghdad relations, developments in the Middle East and the danger of the resurgence of terrorism. 

Both politicians exchanged courteous declarations. Nechirvan Barzani expressed his gratitude and appreciation to President Trump and the United States for supporting the Kurdistan Region in the fight against ISIS. Donald Trump said that US are “indebted” towards Kurdistan Region and the Peshmerga for their role in defeating ISIS and protecting ethnic and religious communities 

The meeting ended up with expressed by both sides declaration to further strengthen mutual relations.

In Davos Kurdish delegation headed by Nechirvan Barzani also had a series of meeting with important political figures, like UN General Secretary, head of European Commission, ministers of foreign affairs of Oman and Sweden. Nechirvan Barzani also took part in discussion panel “turbulent Middle East.”
