On Saturday, March the 28th, in Warsaw, in the office of the Kurdistan Regional Government Representative to Poland, THE ceremony of Newroz celebration was held. This was the second meeting on the occasion of the New Year, this time organized specifically for the Kurdish diaspora in Poland.
The ceremony was attended by Kurds from across Poland, not only from Warsaw, but also from Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Olsztyn, Chojnic and many other cities. Iraqi, Turkish, Syrian and Iranian Kurds were present at the event.
The meeting began with a minute of silence dedicated to Peshmergas who died in the war against terrorism. Then, the Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government to Poland gave a speech on the situation in Kurdistan and throughout the region. In particular he emphasized the heroism of Peshmergas in the battle against ISIS and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s efforts in providing shelter and security for all the refugees in Kurdistan.
After the speech some snacks were given. The meeting was an opportunity to talk with representatives of the Kurdish Diaspora about their situation and possible problems connected with their living in Poland. Some Kurds who have recently arrived in Poland or only just contacted the KRG representation in Poland also came to the meeting.
