Kurdish culture presented at multicultural festival in Krakow

Kurdistan Regional Government Representation in Poland along with Kurdish artists and members of Kurdish diaspora took part in “Multicultural Festival Get-together” organized by Villa Decius Association. The event was held in Krakow from November 24 till December 1, 2019. KRG Poland was partner of the event. The festival brought the opportunity to learn more about the cultural variety of the city of Krakow. Program of the festival included over 60 events organized jointly with partners representing various nations. 

At the first day of the festival, in headquarters of Kurdish Center for Information and Documentation took place workshops of Kurdish music and dance. Guest were welcomed by Ziyad Raoof KRG Representative in Poland and Ms Katarzyna Góralczyk from Villa Decius Association. Later, Kurdish musicians Arad Emamgholi and Saman Alias described the history of kurdish Daf and Jurna instruments and played some songs. Kurdish diapora presented  Kurdish dance called Halparke and then the polish audience including children and elders also danced. At the end of the day Kurds made an open live performance at Main Market Square of Kraków. It was a good opportunity to present Kurdish culture to Polish audience.

Kurdish culture was also presented during the last day of the festival- on December 1, when there were held workshops about Kurdish language and writing system. There was also screening of the movie “my Krakow- my Kurdistan” and meeting with Ziyad Raoof KRG Representative in Poland.
